WebAug 24, 2005 · When I put an oil gauge on it, (1992) I discovered it ran at about 10 psi on the highway (3000 rpm at about 200 deg). I changed the lifters to the later model HD ones (1992 and up) and I replaced the rocker arm bushes. I also rebushed the timing cover. Oil pressure climbed to about 15 on the highway. To remedy this, we decided to do an oil line conversion to add a little visual appeal.

They also crack where they're bent/pinched, and can rot in direct sunlight. I'd get the braded stainless oil lines from Drag or whoever, and a roll of teflon tape for the threads on the fittings. In you 89 model, the crankcase breaths from behind the oil pump through a tube that runs to the backside of the air filter assembly.
